Chairman's Message

Dear Friends,
Greetings from PMMAI!

I feel gratified and honoured to forward the new website for PMMAI which is more informative and user friendly. It has the latest features and is connected with member’s website also. We welcome members to share any relevant information for the benefit of all family members of the Industry.

As per my interactions with industry leaders in the recent past, we could analyse that in spite of demonetisation there is an overall growth in the PPM sector and exports had increased, barring Extrusion (Blown Film sector), which is bit down due to change in several government policies. We are targeting double digit growth in PPM section in current FY 2017-18.

Mr. Mahendra Patel
Chairman - PMMAI

PMMAI is coming up with its own exhibition “Indiaplast 2018” which will be organised from 26-29 Oct, 2017 at Pragati Maiden, New Delhi. You all will agree with me that Delhi is the ultimate location for having business exhibitions because of its global connectivity apart from better logistics for domestic destinations. It has world class Hotels and other facilities which exhibitors as well as visitors are looking for when participating in or visiting an exhibition. “Indiaplast” show will be managed by team of professionals and will be offering economic space rentals, lower power cost and better infrastructure. I request all for their whole hearted participation in the show. Believe me, it will be an ideal platform for plastic industry for showcasing its products and taking the business to grater heights. Be a part of this mega event & witness latest technologies, new product launches from India and across the globe.

We at PMMAI are continuously working with different ministries of the government for the betterment of the Industry. After a rigorous follow up of last four years, an inter- ministerial committee has been formed by sincere efforts of DHI, where all important departments like Finance, Revenue, Commerce, DHI, MSME, Tariff Commission, Railways ,Defence, DCPC, BIS and others are participating to address the concerns of the industries. First meeting of this inter-ministerial committee was held last month where PMMAI was well heard for its issues:

  • To deliberate & review the public procurement guidelines on regular basis
  • To address issue of import of second hand capital goods
  • To review duty structure on import of raw materials and components of CG to be taxed lower than finished machinery

I would like to extend my gratitude to all members for their continued support in the success journey of PMMAI and wish them all a success in the new financial year.

Mahendra N. Patel,
