A Report on PMMAI Open house Held on 11th August, 2016 AT Ahmedabad

An open house meeting was organised by PMMAI on 11th August, 2016 at Courtyard Marriott, Ahmedabad. All members and entrepreneur’s from the PPM industry were invited for the programme for open exchange of views/ suggestions among the industry and to decide a common way ahead forward for the betterment of sector as a whole.

Meeting was attended by around 70 entrepreneurs from all over the country. Open house started with a welcome note by PMMAI Chairman Shri Mahendra Patel and update about the latest activities and achievements of association in last one year.

Members were really happy about the developments and initiatives taken by PMMAI team.

Mr Nishant Patel from Anmol Green Energy presented ideas about customized Solar Energy solutions for the industry at no investments. Presentation attached herewith for reference.

Mr Sunil Jain, Director PMMAI updated the guests about the initiatives taken by PMMAI for common participation in exhibition and the government subsidy received from DHI for MSME units. He requested members to please forward their requirements for exhibition participation to PMMAI office who can get better prices for them as they talk to organisers for large quantum of area. PMMAI is taking a delegation to K Show where all members are requested to join. Further he updated house about the export benefits which PMMAI co-ordinated with Ministry of Commerce and got through the MEIS scheme.

Further the members were updated on Common Purchase system started by PMMAI and the Standardisation for PPM sector. Presentations were made by Mr. Vinay Bansod of Windsor leading Standards development committee for BIS development for machineries and other standardisation, Mr. Subba Bangera who coordinates activities of Common Cable procurement made presentations on Co CAB progress in absence of Mr. Shirish Divgi of FMI who is leading the Common Purchase team. Both the presentations are attached.

The initiatives taken by PMMAI on Common Purchase was well appreciated by the members.

The house was open for free exchange of views amongst the members present. Mr. Tushar Parikh, Mr. Rajiv Trivedi and Ms. Anu Chaudhary encouraged and coordinated the discussions. Member’s queries on Common purchase and export benefits were addressed.

Few members gave very good suggestions which will be taken forward for management review:

  1. To study and gather information from MSME ministry about 15% benefit on capital subsidy scheme.
  2. To improve communication further via printed newsletter from PMMAI
  3. Directory for PMMAI

The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Mr T S Rajan, Director – PMMAI followed by dinner.

A Report on PMMAI Open house organised on 15th July, 2015 at Ahmedabad

A presentation on Common Purchase System was made by Shri Shirish Divgi, MD, FMI attached herewith.

An open house was organised by PMMAI on Wednesday, 15th July, 2015 at Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Ahmedabad. Programme was well attended by more than 70 participants from all over the country. The objective of organising an open house was to provide a common platform for PMMAI members & PPM industry to interact, share ideas and decide a route map for coming years.

Programme started with a welcome note by PMMAI Chairman Shri Mahendra Patel. He stressed the idea that we are not competitors but co entrepreneurs who will jointly work for a new Brand Image of Indian PPM industry globally on basis of Quality. Shri S V Kabra, Co Chairman, PMMAI motivated the industry to join hands and work together. He explained the idea behind formation of PMMAI and that PMMAI is a platform where every member is treated equally irrespective of the size of industry.

The house was opened for discussions & suggestions from the members. Members actively participated .The main points discussed during the open house were:

  1. All members were requested to provide data required by PMMAI to put proposals in government for schemes.
  2. Central Purchase System for members to be competitive.
  3. Many important components like Screw, Barrel, Moulds, Die etc. have a special metallurgy. We can develop a common import purchase of such alloy steel.
  4. Developing Aesthetics of Machine.
  5. Develop exports for industry.
  6. Importance of world class Lean manufacturing in our industries was discussed and it was decided to implement through a professional agency in small groups.
  7. Uniform terms of sale.
  8. To promote “Brand India” in PPM industry globally.
  9. Skill development for PPM industry by industry – academia collaboration.
  10. To improve quality of Machines.
  11. PMMAI members to jointly participate in Exhibition.
  12. Factory visits for learning & sharing Best Practices in Industry.
  13. To organize study tour & delegations to various countries.

Working groups were formed to take forward the suggestions in a working module.

  3. Marketing
  4. SME

JS Visit to Ahmedabad

Shri Vishvajit Sahay JS (DHI) visited Ahmedabad on 28th May, 2015 to interact with Machinery Manufacturers and have a greater understanding of the Plastics Processing Machinery Sector. He was accompanied by Shri N L Goswami (Sr DHO, DHI). He visited Neoplast, Ferromatik Milacron , Prasad Group & Windsor Extrusion Plant. In spite of hot weather JS showed keen interest in factory visits.

Mr Sahay wanted to understand all Products related to PPM i.e. IMM, Extrusion, Blow Moulding, Auxiliaries, so in a given limited time frame we managed to take him around all 4 sectors. An Industry interaction programme was organised at Prasad Group. Around 20 people from the industry participated in this interaction programme. PMMAI Chairman Shri Mahendra N Patel made a briefl presentation giving details of Industry Size, issues faced by the industry and support required from Government.

JS interacted with industry and assured of the full support from DHI. He requested to study the Capital Goods Policy and forward suggestions on it. He suggested PPM sector should go for BIS and assured of full support from the ministry. He instructed Mr Goswami to take it on priority and arrange meeting. He requested industry to put forward proposals for Technology Acquisition Fund. They have already approved few proposals for TAGMA & Textile Machinery Association. DHI wants us to come forward with our proposals for Technology acquisition, Technology Development with participation of Institutes, common facility centre.

DHI – FICCI Workshop on 29th May, 2015 at Ahmedabad

On 29th May, 2015 a workshop was organised by DHI & FICCI “Technology Development for Capital Goods: Constraints & the way forward”. Workshop was inaugurated by Shri Anant Geete , Hon’ble Minister (HI & PE). Minister also released the brochure & USB giving details of Scheme by DHI. DHI Scheme has the following objectives:

1. To encourage technology development through joint participation with Academia, Industry R&D institute and Government and facilitate / acquiring the critical technologies.

2. To create common physical infrastructure for enhancing the competitiveness of the local industry, enabling it to withstand the import penetration. (for details

Minister was quite positive over advancement of Capital Goods Sector of our country in his inaugural address, and, assured industry of full support from the ministry. In his opening remarks he invited industry to come forward and take benefits of the DHI scheme & make success of 'Make in India' program launched by PM. Workshop was well attended by entrepreneurs from capital goods sector. PMMAI, Textile association, FICCI, DHI made presentations. Workshop concluded with an Industry/ Academia discussion with DHI.

PMMAI was there as a supporting association for the workshop.

A meeting was called by PMMAI on 1st October, 2014 at helipad Ground, Gandhinagar. Around 90 Plastics machinery manufacturers from across the country participated in the meeting . Meeting was called to clear confusions/ speculations relating to shifting of Plastindia 2015 to Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat from Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Present Plastindia 2015 Exhibitors took the tour of the upcoming Exhibition Ground Venue and discussed the merits & demerits related to venue.

Meeting was called off after above & lunch was served to the participants.

PMMAI launch Function at Ahmedabad on 20th July 2013.

The first launch function for PMMAI was organised on 20th July 2013 at Courtyard by Marriott at Ahmedabad. Plastics machinery manufacturers from Ahmedabad & Baroda were invited for launch function.

Program was started with a welcome note by Mr Tushar Parikh, member PMMAI steering committee. A detailed presentation was given by PMMAI Chairman Shri Mahendra N Patel about Plastics Machinery Industry, opportunities & threats for the industry. Mr Patel also explained the vision, mission behind the formation of PMMAI.

Ms. Khushboo Doshi, Executive Director, Rajoo Engineers Ltd presented a presentation on newly developed PMMAI website which was officially launched on that day. PMMAI website is user friendly and interactive having all latest means to share information among members.

Thereafter an introduction session was there among the guests and PMMAI committee. There was a gathering of 65/68 persons. It was an informal gathering with interactive session. Some suggestions also came from the invitees which will be discussed in next board meeting.

Programme ended with a vote of thanks by Shri N K Balgi.
