Chairman's Message

PMMAI is working hard and putting best efforts for the benefit of industry since last three years. Our industry is now recognized by Government of India at various levels of different ministries. PMMAI played a vital role in between GOG, PIF & Industry when the venue of Plastindia 2015 was changed. We whole heartedly supported GOG scheme for incentive for machinery purchases at Plastindia 2015. Our secretariat is always willing to help for even the smallest query when there was no one else will answer them. We assure you that this helping approach will continue in future because that is PMMAI mission - to help grow plastics machinery industry in India.

Our industry, in general, was not happy with Central Budget. We voiced our disappointment at various levels in ministry with our presentations. It is a matter of pride for PMMAI that we were invited with other national organizations like IMTMA, FICCI, CII , ACME and others to present our points in a meeting of Department related Parliamentary Standing Committee, for consideration of Demand for Grants allotted to our Ministry and the issues confronting the capital goods industry in India. This meeting provided us with an opportunity to voice our concerns. We also submitted our suggestions for suitable remedies to promote the growth of the Plastics Processing Machinery industry in India. The meeting was held on 24 March 2015 at 11 am at Parliament House Annexe. We are hopeful of positive outcome when new policy affecting our industry are announced.

For example, our efforts have paid off with inclusion of ‘Plastics Processing Machines’ (PPM) under MEIS (Merchandise Exports from India Scheme). New Foreign Trade Policy 2015- 2020 announced on 1st April includes PPMs (tariff numbers: 8477.1000/ 2000/ 3000/ 4000/ 5900) under MEIS @2% incentive. There are many issues affecting growth of our industry which need to be addressed. PMMAI is alert to actively pursue these with appropriate authorities. I welcome your suggestions.

Wishing all my friends best wishes for the new financial year.

Best Regards,
Mahendra Patel
Chairman – PMMAI.
